Family farming in Nottinghamshire since 1910

Fruit growing began at Norwood Park 100 years ago in 1910 when John R. Starkey MP planted a Bramley Apple orchard. 50 years ago Starkey's started to grow strawberries and recently blackberries. The current owner Sir John Starkey is a third generation fruit grower and has planted a Centenary Bramley orchard in honour of his grandfather.

This season Starkey's will grow 400 tons of strawberries and 50 tons of blackberries in soft fruit plantations which are nestled between ancient oak trees of the former deer park dating back to Robin Hood times, apple orchards and wildlife habitat.

Norwood Park is a haven for many species of native birds notably woodpeckers, nuthatch, owls and goldfinches but also many others as well as summer visitors like swallows and martins and migrating fieldfares in winter. Butterfly species include tortoiseshells, peacocks, holly blues, speckled woods, and red admirals in autumn.
